Research + Practice = Stronger Decisions

Pursuing a PhD while managing consulting projects wasn’t an easy choice. Many people asked me, “Why study at this stage of your career?” My answer was simple: to bridge research with practice.

In management, I’ve often seen decisions being made on gut feeling alone. While experience matters, research provides structured insights that can validate or challenge assumptions. For example, my doctoral research on consumer buying behavior of nylon yarn has shown me how purchase decisions are influenced not only by price and quality, but also by trust, relationships, and even global trade policies.

When I combine that research knowledge with three decades of practical industry experience, my recommendations to clients become far stronger. It’s no longer just “what I think will work,” but “what both data and practice confirm.”

The best leaders are not just practitioners or researchers — they are both. They apply rigor while staying grounded in reality. That’s what I strive to bring into every consulting engagement.

👉 Do you feel most business decisions today are backed by research, or mostly by intuition?
